PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Urban proposal for 12 additional housing units (2 small apartment blocks and 10 free-standing houses) at Broadfield Estate, Crawley, UK.

STEFAN ANTONI OLMSDAHL TRUEN ARCHITECTS, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
Well-established and popular office based in Cape Town specialising in upmarket houses for the upwardly mobile trendsetters of the Mother City.

Conceptual design, design development and service co-ordination, project administration (appraisal and definition, design concept and design development phases), client liaison, liaison with 3d team, liaison with project consultants (meetings and correspondence), detail drawing.
NOTABLE PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
  1. THE EMBASSY – location: pretoria, south africa
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 200 – unit luxury apartment complex comprising 8 storeys of decadent suites to be sold to individuals or companies with branches in Pretoria.
ROLE: Junior architect. Overall design concept and design development, client liaison, consultant liaison, detailed apartment layouts, project administration and service co-ordination. (Stage 1-4.1)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Conceptual design drawings for new family residence in an upmarket housing in Stonehurst Estate, Westlake, Cape Town.

A socially-conscious medium size firm focussing on buildings in the public sector but also with experience in private small-scale residential, larger scale housing developments and sporting facilities. MMA Cape has been recognised worldwide for its 10 x 10 housing project – using innovative building method to develop low cost housing for 10 families on the Cape Flats, a prototype for possible reproduction on a large scale.

NOTABLE PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
  1. ZWELIHLE PRIMARY SCHOOL – location: hermanus, south africa. 2008-2009
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The brief called for a new primary school for 1200 from a very poor community, Zwelihle, near the popular seaside town of Hermanus two hours away from Cape Town.
ROLE: Junior architect. Conceptual design, design development, detail design and technical documentation, site meetings (technical), client liaison, consultant liaison, service co-ordination. (Stage 1-5)
  1. 2.        NIKE PREMIUM FOOTBALL STORE – location: johannesburg, south africa. 2010
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: MMA was commissioned by Nike SA to execute and project manage the fit-out of the new Football Bootroom Store in the SandtonCity Mall in Johannesburg.
ROLE: Project architect. Detail drawing and liaison work on site with contractors, joiners, electricians, graphics experts and of course the Nike design team in the Netherlands. (Stage 1-5)
  1. CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – MULTI STORY PARKADE DECORATIVE SCREENS – location: cape town, south africa. 2010
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: MMA was commissioned to design to Multi storey parkades at the Cape Town internation Airport with Groenewald Preller Architects.
ROLE: Design architect. Conceptual and detail design for interior design elements for the new multi-storey parkade, including decorative screen, tiling and ceiling installations as well as paint specifications for all lobbies areas. (Stage 1-5)
  1. BAY HOUSE – location: cape town, south africa.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: High-end family residence in gated estate on the ocean edge.
ROLE: Junior architect. Conceptual design, revit model, initial client presentations, setting up 3d renders and sourcing materials for interiors. (Stage 1-3)
  1. CAPE TOWN BOOK FAIR KIDS ZONE – location: cape town, south africa. 2009 & 2010
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Kids Zone was designed by Sonja Spamer for MMA Architects for the Cape Town Book Fair 2009 and 2010. The Book Fair, an annual event which promotes publishers and has various authors talk is essentially is a big book sale for adults. The Kids Zone offered an interactive space for little people (and their parents) to listen to stories, read quietly, play and write / draw.
ROLE: Junior architect. General design input, 3d modelling of the design scheme as well as contributing to the product specification. (Stage 1-5)
  1. DESMOND TUTU PEACE CENTRE – location: cape town, south africa
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Desmond Tutu Peace Centre designed in collaboration with Van der Merwe Mizsewski Architects, is to be a landmark building in the city centre, to be used as a base for the Desmond Tutu Peace Centre Trust and related conferences and exhibitions.
ROLE: Design architect. Technical support with regard to the façade and shopfront detailing. (Stage 3-4.1)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: New primary school for 1120 learners in Nomzamo, Strand
